Sun Tzu Daily delivers one idea from Sun Tzu’s The Art of War every day — the quotation, the strategic principle, and one concrete way to use it in business, investing, negotiation, or leadership. The whole thing is built to take about a minute.

What this is (and isn’t)

This is not a quote generator, and it isn’t another site repeating questionable internet Sun Tzu quotes. The point is translation: taking ancient Chinese strategy and connecting it to the problems people actually face — competition, negotiation, risk, timing, decision-making. Each entry separates the historical quotation from our own commentary.

On accuracy

Quotations are drawn from the Lionel Giles (1910) translation of The Art of War, the standard public-domain English translation. Where a wording is a faithful paraphrase rather than a verbatim rendering, we flag it. We do not invent quotations or attribute modern paraphrase to Sun Tzu. The principle, interpretation, and application are original editorial content and are not financial, legal, or professional advice.

Editorial standards

Every lesson is researched against its chapter’s argument before it is written: where the passage sits in The Art of War, what it meant in the context of ancient Chinese warfare, and how later chapters build on it. The deeper sections on each lesson page — Where this sits in the chapter, A modern example, and The common misreading — are written individually for that lesson, not generated from a template.

We correct mistakes openly. If a quotation is misattributed, a translation is imprecise, or an interpretation misses the passage’s historical meaning, we fix the lesson and the correction is reflected on its permanent page. Write to us via the address in the privacy policy and the lesson gets a second editorial pass.

How the daily works

The featured lesson is chosen deterministically from the date, so everyone sees the same strategy on a given day and each day’s entry has a permanent link. No account required — just come back tomorrow.
